The Challenge
Amory Tower is a 53-storey residential development delivered on a constrained urban site adjacent to Canary Wharf. The tower combines private and affordable apartments across multiple specification tiers within a slender structural footprint.
The scheme was originally designed for traditional in-situ bathroom construction. During delivery, a decision was made to incorporate prefabricated bathroom pods, requiring the adaptation of pod geometry to an existing layout rather than designing the building around a modular solution.
This required detailed coordination to align pod dimensions, service interfaces, and structural tolerances within a live high-rise design framework while maintaining programme continuity.
Our Solution
Sterchele was engaged from the design development stage to integrate bathroom pod technology into the established architectural and structural layout.
Our involvement included:
- Detailed design coordination to adapt 16 pod typologies to existing apartment configurations
- Interface alignment with structural grids, risers, drainage, ventilation, and containment strategies
- Dimensional review to ensure compatibility with floor-to-floor tolerances and façade constraints
- Factory-controlled manufacture with defined inspection and verification stages
- Sequenced delivery aligned with the tower’s vertical construction programme
- On-site technical presence during installation and commissioning to support coordinated service integration
The bathroom package was incorporated as a controlled modular system within a design not originally configured for pods.

On a 53-storey tower with multiple apartment types, prefabrication provided operational control:
